EU Politics
This service covers all macro-economically political developments in the EU and national politics in all major European capitals, as well as the CEE region (including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus).
We are looking at the ongoing trade negotiations with the US and China, the EU’s competitiveness agenda and increasingly active industrial policy as well as Brussels’ efforts to build up a stronger European defence industry.
We are covering all main developments on national politics, including the new German government and the risk of snap elections in France. We also cover developments across Central and Eastern Europe, including the ongoing political tensions in Poland and ceasefire negotiations in Ukraine.
We follow closely the implementation of EU fiscal rules and the role of the EU as an issuer as Brussels is creating follow-up tools for the Recovery Fund, keeping the EU active in the markets beyond the NGEU end-date.
And we are keeping a close eye on Brussels politics, including the shifting power dynamics within the European Parliament, in the Council and between Commissioners. EU funding and the next EU budget cycle will soon dominate EU discussions alongside the current competitiveness agenda.
