Digital Assets
This service focuses on how governments and authorities in the EU and UK are regulating the emerging digital assets and digital financial services world.
The regulation of crypto-assets, central bank digital currencies, digital payments, open data and business critical enabling technologies such as digital identity and artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly and is moving asset prices.
Increasingly, we focus on the crossover between traditional financial services regulation and crypto-assets, for example in banking capital requirements, payments rulebooks or rules applicable to asset tokenisation.
Regulatory divergence is a key focus of our work. We show how politics in different territories is leading challenges and opportunities in the regulation of all areas of digital asset markets. When politics drives issues such as equivalence, we cooperate closely with Forefront’s macroeconomic coverage of the EU and UK.
Not only are the changes being made by the EU significant, but they are coming at an unprecedented speed. In this context, it is more important than ever to understand the political background that lies behind the headlines.
